Running

Merry Christmas.

It's been a while since I've had a successful blog. It's not that I haven't tried, believe me. I really haven't had much to write about. Nothing big, no exciting trips to Africa or anything like that. However, I have a whole lot of small exciting things going on that, when combined, will make a good story.

First off: running.

I am a runner. I am the most average, mediocre runner you will ever meet. I don't win races, I don't run marathons, and I don't run particularly well. But I enjoy it and I like to motivate others. Most importantly, I need to motivate myself.

I want to complete a half-marathon. There, I've said it. It's down in black-and-white. I can't take it back.

More specifically, I'm looking to run a half-marathon in the spring, sometime between late March and early May, preferably sooner rather than later. Currently, my longest run is four miles but in August I ran for 8, so I think I could reasonably manage 13.1 with some training.

My first goal was to start running four times week, which I've been doing pretty well for the last two or three weeks. I'm pretty slow and not very graceful, but I've been putting in the time. I've averaged about 7-8 miles for the last few weeks. I think I'm ready to start training for a half-marathon.
